Kenya School Project

The Kenya Outreach Project is a ministry of Holy Family Catholic Community of Cohocton, Dansville, Perkinsville and Wayland, New York in solidarity with the Diocese of  Nakuru-Kenya. Father Stephen Karani, native of Kenya, serves as the pastor of Holy Family. The purpose of the project is to make high school available and affordable to the young people of Father's home village of Gitare, Kenya. Currently thousands of children have no access to high schools because there are none in Gitare. This is an opportunity for Holy Family Parish Community and others to help change lives, fight poverty and build a future for the children in this rural village of Kenya. In September, 2008, the first direct appeal was successfully launched resulting in the needed funds to acquire land. Donations throughout the year as well as a successful golf tournament financed the purchasing of some of the building materials for the foundation of the school. Our second annual appeal has begun. This year's goal is to raise funds to build classrooms and restroom facilities. With your support, we expect the first group of children will begin their studies by January, 2011. We invite you to participate in The Kenya School Project through your prayers and generous contributions. One hundred percent of your tax deductible donation goes directly to the school project. Giving Hope through Education to the boys and girls of Gitare, Kenya will help to change their lives and create a better tomorrow. Your donations can be sent to: Holy Family Catholic Community, 206 Fremont Street, Wayland, NY 14572 Attn: Kenya School Project.
