The basic guidelines for a child to prepare are:

• The child must be baptized into the Catholic faith.
• At least one year of Religious Education either in a Catholic school or a Parish Religious Education Program must be completed.
• Current enrollment in a Religious Education Program is required.
• The family must be registered in the Holy Family Catholic Community.

It is worth noting, a child does not have to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before they receive the sacrament of First Eucharist.

A child is more developmentally able to grasp the concept of sin and forgiveness when they are a little older, which is why the sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to children in grades 4 and higher.

Reconciliation preparation is done in small groups led by adults interested in helping our young friends grow in their faith.
